FILM SCREENING (3:30 pm)

Award-winning filmmaker (and MCCA member) Jalena Keene-Lee will present her documentary The Construct: Female Laborers and the Fight for Equality.

This short film follows San Thi Da, a 20 year-old construction worker, and Cheery Zahao, a human rights activist, to examine feminism among different socio-economic classes in Yangon, Mynamar.

After the screening, Jalena will answer questions about The Construct; her company, Blue Peel Productions; and her newest projects.

THEN...

ANNUAL WINTER FESTIVAL POTUCK DINNER (4–7 pm).

Learn to make delicious meat dumplings, which we'll serve in Kim Luu's famous Winter Melon soup.

Enjoy a traditional dessert of tāngyuán (glutinous rice balls).
Celebrate the New Year early with the MCCA Lion Dance team.
We’ll also have games and activities for the kids.

Bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. MCCA will provide main courses and drinks.
