Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM), now officially proclaimed Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, takes place in May and is a celebration of the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

Established in 1991, the Asian Pacific Heritage Festival has been held at various venues in Marin County. Past performances and activities include lion dancing, taiko drums, Hawaiian dancing, aikido, Brazilian martial arts, Filipino folk song, origami, Chinese calligraphy, qigong, taijiquan, and more. The event is co-sponsored by the Asian American Alliance of Marin (AAAM), Marin Chinese Cultural Association (MCCA) and Dominican University of California.

A celebration of all Asian and Pacific Islander cultures, the goal of the 2016 Asian Pacific Heritage Festival of Marin is to promote and foster Asian Pacific American identity by bringing together community and encouraging the sharing of differences and appreciation of culture and diversity. This year, we have joined forces with the Marin and Novato YMCA. The event will be held at the Marin YMCA, 1500 Los Gamos Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903.
